you listed zangiefs ex lariat as an option despite it not punishing fireballs at a further range than juri's ex tensen (or at the very least they look a very similar distance in this video). Chun's hazan doesn't even go that far, lacks invincibility (not sure if ex though), and the instances of you using it in this video as an example look strictly like they would have to be hard reads given they are being used barely a few frames after hadouken is used. I dont see clashing as a good means of countering fireballs either, especially when she is forced to use an immensely slow fireball or have a fast one that goes a short distance. I don't see chun li out projectile-inga lot of characters unless maybe she is at closer distance. At a distance ryu beats out chun li with fire balls if anything. Only move from her I'd agree with is ex kikoken, which sure works, but is limited by drive. Ryu also has tatsu for projectiles, but it seems like a lackluster option Dive kick and ex tensen alone (even with its short distance) arent that bad of options to deal with fireballs imo. I feel like I should also include her drive rush since chun's fire ball + DR was included. Juri's parry to DR works far better than most of the cast I don't disagree that juri can have trouble vs fireballs, but compared to many other characters I dont see how it is *that* bad. Honda can tank a hit with ex headbutt, but it is punishable and not plus on block (much like juri dive kick). Based on distance, if zangief ex lariat is counted an an option then I don't see why ex tensen shouldnt when they look to go a similar distance, bakkai also looks to go a similar-ish distance (2 squares), both of manon's options look to have even less range than juri's ex tensen. If clashing is a fine option, juri has this as well (albeit it's just stationary) The more of the examples I look at, the more I am realizing ex tensen doesn't seem to go at that bad of a distance compared to several other moves listed here. The inconsistency is the problem if anything more than the range imo It's hard for me to buy that she struggles against fireballs even more than someone like zangief when statistically she has fine matchups against projectile heavy characters. 52% against jp, 51% against guile, 52% against dhal, (albeit chun is at 49%). Compare this to zangief, a character who massively struggles against projectiles, who has a 40% against jp, 30% against dhal (albeit interestingly he has a 52% and 53% win rate against guile and chun). Especially in the case of JP, his losing matchups are against characters that have a fine way to challenge his projectiles, I dont see how juri's weakness against fireballs is so strong that she would be positive over other characters who do have a move for fireballs

Thanks for this. It has a practical application. If you burn yourself out into FSE then do the normal safe jump setup if it hits you can go into this combo (the first part with 3 fireball reps). You need to adapt it a little as you only get +4 on the last rep so you need to use a crouching LP instead by delaying the Cr.mp but you can go back into the safe jump and by the time you do your drive gauge has basically recovered. Very niche but nice.

hey man i like what you are doing with these videos. Your videos have been a big help. I want you to help me punish when my opponent wakes up with a crouching short kick to beat the shimmy play instead of throwing. You have demonstrated how to use the shimmy play to beat the throws which is very nice. I would like to know how to beat other buttons off the light punch play beside the throw. Thanks and keep making these videos.
Doesn’t this just depend on what character you are facing? IMO there’s way too much to consider if you face a different character which will happen often online so wouldn’t it be better to just go all in on Learning a move that will always connect if you space it right like her lunging moves to catch a whiff?

I have watched nephew all of 10 minutes in sf6 when I raided him, and a few matches in tourney. I’ve never taken anything from his matches. But nice attempt?
My ways of dealing with fireballs: 1) Backdash and jump forward while buffering divekick. (opponent COULD chase you to take space or dash+DP if you do it too much, but most importantly it does make them respect you, pausing their barrage) 2) Level 3 reliably pulls them in from midscreen. (so they are forced to slowly back off if they wanna fireball) 3) OD saihasho. Opponent WILL pause their fireball spam and it'll be your turn, naturally. Also, SITUATIONALLY, Juri has the luxury of recovering her drive gauge more reliably while defending against fireballs. Parry pauses your drive recovery while countering a fireball with fuha doesn't. Try to parry only OD fireballs, or if the opponent is too close Parry also gives your enemy more special meter, while "fuha parry" doesn't. Of course, you have to have space behind you, so don't lose neutral. Funny how even this strat beautifully fits the "corner is death" design TLDR: You back away just to get that one opening and threaten the faraway jump-in. Even the only way to space divekick for -3 is from that distance!

SF6 in a nutshell, its a freaking guessing game. The neutral game of reaction like whiff punishing, hit confirms and anti air is a small portion of the game. People would skip neutral with drive rush and skip hit confirms with drive rush cancel and get oki pressure. And from there on its guessing game all the way.
Kinda… but not really. Drive recovery would have covered both options. A reversal as well.
@@BigNastyKail That still loses to shimmy. It's strike/throw/bait Vs block/tech/reversal. Basically a rock scissors paper situation. I mean it exists in all fighting games but because of drive rush neutral and hit confirm skipping, you end up in that RPS situation much of the time in SF6.

Wow, it always looked harder than it actually is. The only tricky part is the manual timing of the first jump juggle. I'll try to pull it out on my friends, and if it goes well, maybe I'll even bring it to ranked for some style points. Thx a lot for the guide!

im a marisa main who would never touch juri ever but this video is pretty good lol
I forgot to save it, so I don't remember who posted it, but I saw a combo on twitter where someone did a mid-screen relaunch similar to the one you do in the corner. I think it used the basic concept of leaving out heavy kick to preserve juggle potential, but they did a delayed j. lp -> j. lk -> j. mk (whiff) and then landed and did the drive rush relaunch. I think they whiffed the j. mk to allow them to buffer drive rush when they land. You may have seen it already, but I thought it was interesting because it lets you get a quite a bit of corner carry and style for as little as one bar of drive gauge if you can hit it.
Only seen japs use this tech so far its hard to time but actually optimal

Incredible video Kail, somebody did something similar to me in a Juri Mirror match and I was really amazed about the loop. Watched the replay several times but couldn't reproduce it, this video will help a lot for giving it another try. I am playing on Modern and the great thing is that at least the first half (~25hits) should be doable, the second part I would need to tweak a bit because she is missing a few buttons in Modern but I would settle for 30-40 hits. One more question, I have recently seeing people use the terms that you are showing on the screen 5lk, 2mk etc, where can I found out what everything means or what they are short for? Keep up the great work!
